Our Speaker:  Michael De Toro

Michael (Mike) DeToro, a trained and licensed lawyer and mediator, was educated in the US at Boston College (85) and the University of Denver College of Law School (91).  Mr. DeToro has worked extensively with the US State Department and was seconded to several international organizations (UN, EU Commission, OSCE, Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe) where he primarily negotiated and mediated international agreements and policies. He was also tasked with implementing “sur la terrain” most of those policies agreed upon at the ministerial level in which he negotiated the policies.  Over the last two decades he has specialized in generating viable solutions through uniting a broad spectrum of stakeholders (NATO, UN, OSCE, International Police Task Force in BiH and local security officials such as military and police, Civil Society, etc.). Specific tasks included implementing the return of refugees to their homes following the wars in the former Yugoslavia as well as negotiating power sharing agreements among local political parties in former ethnically cleansed municipalities in BiH.

Throughout his career he has been asked to train individuals and multicultural teams in various disciplines (Negotiation, Emotional Intelligence, Conflict Resolution, Assertiveness, Stress Management).  Mike has been fortunate to understand early in his life the vital importance of linking his passions with his professional work.  He thrives in being of support to others as they resolve to further develop their personal and professional skills and unique talents.
