How can we close the gap between the sciences and our society?

Join us on Thursday, Nov 24th  in the charming ambiance of Hotel Le Chatelain with our members and guests to share with you our STEAM Programme focusing on interdisciplinarity, creativity and the reward of breaking down barriers in the STEAM fields.

The PWI STEAM Programme presents
Dr. Luise Kalbe who will share with us:

Science and technology are shaping our daily life and are increasingly changing our society.

We need to raise public awareness of the practical, ethical and legal aspects, increase communication between societal stakeholders and public debate.

Our society is at a crossroad.  How do we as individuals and society benefit from this progress and make it work for us?

Join us this evening to reflect and debate based on real-life examples of what is already being done to bridge the gap between science and society.

Biography

Having lived on three continents and speaking six languages, Luise can tune into people from different backgrounds to ensure their trust and engagement and negotiate consensus between stakeholders with different priorities in cross-functional teams.
Keeping abreast of societal and global trends, she enjoys closing the gap between science, society and policy makers and communicating complex content to professionals and non-specialised audiences.
With a PhD in biochemistry, she has worked in academic research in Belgium and the United States, at the European Commission and for the pharmaceutical industry. She has lead projects and teams and has been responsible for publication planning, medical governance and compliance aspects and for an intranet portal.
She has also been a Science and Mathematics teacher and has led workshops on medical writing, publication planning and vaccines in the pharmaceutical industry and at the European Medical Writers Association. She has also authored chapters in specialist books on diabetes and on functional foods.
