President's Editorial

President's welcome

Dear members and friends of PWI,
During the last quarter, including beginning of October we have organized 7 events.
In July we had a presentation by Jeanine Crombé of the Emotional Freedom Techniques(EFT). Immediately after, the demand was so high for a follow up from all of us that could not attend but also from the participants that we have decided to organize a full day work shop on Saturday October 27th. You can read about it and register here.  Discover also the interview of Jeanine in this magazine ....[more]

Topic of the Edition - Women & Ideals

Women are the architects of their future

PWI – Marie-Anne, you have two hats, let’s start with the Destree Institute. Tell us, please, about its mission, activities and your role as Director of Research.
Our meeting for the interview happens at a happy time: The Destree Institute was founded exactly 75 years ago in Namur, on the 11th June 1938. It was named in honor of the Minister of Sciences and Arts Jules Destree, who died in 1936. The Destree Institute is a European pluralist research centre, a non-governmental, non-profit body  ... Ignorance about volunteering is its major limitation to flourishing

PWI – Eva, would you like to introduce CEV to the PWI Magazine readership?
What is the mission, scope and organization/structure? Which are the CEV member organisations? Who are the CEV ambassadors and supporters?

The European Volunteer Centre, CEV (from the French “Centre européen du volontariat”) was created in 1992 – actually it is our 20th anniversary this year - by a few countries like the UK, Belgium, Italy, the Netherlands, France and Spain, after a meeting in Lucca (Italy). Management

"How can you foster an innovative mindset among your staff?"

Successful social innovators
Everyday I come across outstanding individuals with sheer passion to change their community and who contribute in skills, connections, strategic and technical knowledge, to making a positive social or environmental impact. Some of these individuals do this through enterprise, others through campaigning.

In over 10 years of running Ogunte, a Social Innovation Development Company focused :... [more]

“Helene Feuillat tells us a little about her life in Kolkata, India"

PWI – How long have you lived in India now? What are the lessons you have learned so far?  What is the biggest difference you and your family have found between living in Belgium and living in India?

We moved to India just a little over a year now. The country is absolutely fascinating. I had travelled extensively in India as a tourist many years ago, but living here is completely different. We have learned many things, one of them is patience! The notion of time is completely different here… I needed to “deprogramme” myself . ....[more]

Labour Market

What holds us back in life, both personally and professionally, are unresolved emotional issues"
PWI – Jeanine, your presentation of the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) - at the event recently organized by PWI - raised a lot of appreciation and interest in the binomial business-emotions. We are organizing together an “EFT Level 1 Certificate Training Workshop” in October, so I will not ask you much about the content of EFT, but could you just provide us with a sharp definition of it?
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)belongs to a new class of treatments referred to as Energy Psychology. EFT evolved from Thought Field Therapy, which was created . ...[more]

Miscellaneous & mails to the editor

"Living life on Purpose: How to get more of what you want in your life "

Ever woke up in the morning and said to yourself “I’ll be glad when this one’s over!” or been in a meeting thinking “I don’t see the point of this discussion!” or pondering “If it wasn’t for the kids and the mortgage, I’d be doing something else” and then wondering what that something else would be!
Many believe that we’re reaching a crisis point in Western society as our focus on materialism over several decades has left us lacking any true sense of purpose. As we go from one ! ... [more]
