Understanding and Managing Stress

Initiating stability through change

Stress has become one of the most important challenges to our health, well-being, quality of life, relationships and economy.

In 2011 Stress levels increased by 48% according to a global business survey 70 to 95% of all illnesses are related to stress 1.1 million Belgians use antidepressants in 2011 13,5 million boxes of sleeping pills and tranquillisers were sold in Belgium 1 in 4 Belgian employees is at risk to have a burn-out.

Tom - Osteopath and Stress Coach for Body & Mind - during his interactive presentation with practical exercises, will address three questions to help you understand and manage stress more effectively.

What is stress?

Why has it become a nuisance?
What can you do about it?

A short biography of our speaker...
Tom Meyers

Stress Coach for Body & Mind, born in Antwerp, Belgium (1970) and I speak fluent English, Dutch, French and German.

I was initially trained as a chef and worked as a waiter and sommelier in various establishments in France, England and on the cruise ship Queen Elisabeth II between 1990 and 1998. in this 8 year period I also travelled extensively around the world before returning to Belgium at the end of 1998.

From 1999 till 2001 I ran a small deli in Mechelen. I stopped that when I started my osteopathy studies and  worked as an office assistant in various companies. In 2007 I became independent and  opened my health practice Osteo and Co in Woluwe.

From my early days working as an osteopath I’ve been intrigued and researching the effects of the body on the mind which has lead in 2013 to my enrollment at the Dresden International University where I’m writing two papers on the effect of osteopathy on the autonomic nervous system and anxiety levels. These papers will give me my Bachelors and Masters degree in the science of Osteopathy and hopefully the recognition in Belgium.

I like to see myself as a contributor of thought to a more joyful and healthy way of living.
